  • $80 annual reg­is­tra­tion fee good from Sep­tem­ber to Sep­tem­ber each year. This cov­ers your USA Swim­ming Fee (required for insur­ance) and our team incen­tive fee.
  • Cost per month: $40-$65 depend­ing on the age and abil­ity of your child.
  • We offer a fam­ily discount.

Trial Period:

You may try SAS for one week to see if it is the right fit for your needs. The cost is $15/child for a week’s prac­tice. Please also com­plete the team reg­is­tra­tion form and bring a sep­a­rate check for our team’s reg­is­tra­tion. If you decide SAS is not for you, your check for the reg­is­tra­tion fee will be returned. If you decide to join, your weekly try-out fee will be applied to that cur­rent month’s dues. No ath­letes will be per­mit­ted to try out with­out a check for the reg­is­tra­tion fee and form on hand. This is required for our insurance.

Does my child need to belong to the com­mu­nity cen­ter to participate?

No. Salem Area Swim­ming rents lane space from the cen­ter. Your monthly fees cover the cost of lane rental and pay for the pro­fes­sional coach­ing staff.

Is com­pe­ti­tion mandatory?

No, com­pe­ti­tion is not manda­tory, but is strongly encour­aged. Swim meets are to swim­ming as foot­ball games are to foot­ball practice.

Does my child need to attend every prac­tice or workout?

No. The coach­ing staff under­stands (and encour­ages!) that your child may be involved in mul­ti­ple activ­i­ties. We under­stand that some of these activ­i­ties may con­flict with our prac­tice sched­ule. How­ever, remem­ber that learn­ing reten­tion occurs the more fre­quently a skill is prac­ticed. You will see more progress in your child the more your child attends practice.

What is the annual reg­is­tra­tion fee and what does it cover?

The annual reg­is­tra­tion fee is $80. The major­ity of the reg­is­tra­tion fee cov­ers nec­es­sary insur­ance pro­vided by USA Swim­ming and allows for your child to be eli­gi­ble to par­tic­i­pate in swim meets. This is manda­tory for all swim­mers due to USA Swim­ming reg­u­la­tions. The remain­ing $10 of your fee goes into a fund for the team, help­ing defray the cost of team par­ties, incen­tives, and awards.
